Converged looks ahead to ADSL2+
8th October 2009
The last quarter of 2009 will see the launch of ADSL2+ services across Aberdeen, adding to the network of exchanges which can carry this new broadband standard throughout Scotland. Converged Communication Solutions will be the first independent Scottish Internet Service Provider to provide this to the end user - offering greater speed and flexibility to our clients.
What is ADSL2+?
ADSL2+ is the next generation of broadband service - offering speeds of up to 24Mbit/s download and 1.5Mbit/s upload (compared with 8Mbit/s download speed and 800Kbit/s upload speed for the current ADSL Max service). It manages this through improvements to the equipment at your local telephone exchange, as well as smarter use of your telephone line. As with all other ADSL services, your overall speed will primarily be determined by your distance from the telephone exchange and other factors such as your internal wiring quality.
ADSL2+ will also enable some users the ability to seamlessly bond multiple lines, allowing two or more connections to be linked into a single 'super connection'.
Converged Communication Solutions are also partnering with Be Un Limited to provide LLU (Local Loop Unbundled) services to those customers who require that little bit extra from their connection, or a solution that does not traverse the BT Wholesale network. Our ADSL2+ LLU product can also provide extra upload speed (up to 2.5Mbit/s based on Annex M - again subject to your distance from the local telephone exchange) - ideal for those businesses who use VPNs, host business services like Voice over IP or simply like sending a lot of email!
